: Hell Gate, Colorado Midland Railway, Colorado, ca. 1886; This photograph, dated ca. 1886, was taken along the tracks of the Colorado Midland Railway where it passes through Hell Gate in Pitkin County. The photographer is identified as J.L. Clinton. In the canyon below is Ivanhoe Creek, which feeds into the Fryingpan River. The man holding onto the electrical pole is unidentified. The tracks in this area have since been removed and the path turned into Frying Pan Road.
