"The Volcano"
The Dotsero volcano, or crater, near Dotsero. "The most recent lava flow in Colorado occurred in Eagle County. This was approximately 4,000 years ago (think Stonehenge) as determined by radiocarbon dating of a tree found in the ash in 1962. Local historians weren’t available for documentation purposes, however, according to an article written by Allen Best in 1990 (Vail Trail Dec. 7, 1990).

"To my Valentine" Postcard, 1912
This Valentine's Day postcard, featuring a dove, an envelope, and a heart-shaped floral wreath, was sent to Dorothy Shryack by a A. W. J. on February 11, 1912., Postcard created by E. A. Schwerdtfeger & Co. AG, Berlin (EAS) Printed in Germany. Stamped twice. Once in Red Cliff, Colorado and then again in Emporia, Kansas. Original address stricken out and replaced with the Admire, Kansas (likely by postal employee in Kansas).
"Tough Cuss Bend," Clear Creek Canyon
A stereoscopic view of the "Tough Cuss Bend" in Clear Creek Canyon. Taken around 1878-1879. This stereoscopic view was one of 500 that were awarded the "Silver Medal of Colorado Industrial Association of 1878 and 1879. It was published by Charles Weitfle of Central City, Colorado. "The whole length of this canon, which is 60 miles, is well named 'The Switzerland of America.' It is the pride of Colorado, and the wonder and admiration of Tourists and Travelers. The Colorado Central Railroad runs through its entire distance, to Black Hawk, 39 miles; Central City, 44; Idaho, 36; Georgetown, 50. Views in Canon. Hanging Rock. Mother Grundy. The Falls. The Road Master, &c."

"Uncle"
"Uncle," a relative of Mary C. (Grant) Borah, sits for a portrait photograph in the late-1800s. Uncle could be William H. Grant (1831-1921), Thomas Grant's brother. Uncle could also be John Wesley Cissna (1822-1896), Mary Jane (Cissna) Grant's brother.

"Valentine Greeting" Postcard, 1911
This Valentine's Day postcard, featuring a blue flower in front of a golden heart, was sent to Dorothy Shryack by Ruth (Shade?) on February 20, 1911., Postcard was created by a company with the monogram: TRG. Illustration on the front is hand colored.

This Valentine's Day card, featuring a small sweaty woodcutter, was sent to Dorothy Shryack by Miss Crawford on February 13, 1913. On the front of the card there is a short poem that reads: "There are lots of girls, and pretty, too, but the sweetest one I saw is ---you!", Illustration by E. Curtis Copyright 1908, by Raphael Tuck & Sons Co., LTD N.Y. Raphael Tuck & Sons', "Love's Labor" Series of Post Cards, No. 3. Art publishers to their majesties the King and Queen.
