Denver and Rio Grande Railroad
A railroad company that ran a transcontinental line between Denver and Salt Lake City in 1870. Had the largest narrow-gauge railroad network in North America during the mid-1880s, which is now owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad after it bought the company in 1988.

A railroad company that ran a transcontinental line between Denver and Salt Lake City in 1870. Had the largest narrow-gauge railroad network in North America during the mid-1880s, which is now owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad after it bought the company in 1988.
Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad
A rail line that ran from Denver to South Park to Leadville. Construction began in 1873 and finished when the 'High Line' (branch line) to Leadville was made in 1880, followed by the Alpine Tunnel which allowed the mainline to reach Gunnison in 1882. Was succeeded by the Colorado and Southern Railway who began dismantling the line in 1910 starting with the Alpine Tunnel's closure and then ending with the Denver/Leadville connection being discontinued in 1937.
