Rosemary "Toots" (Massey) Kitson
She was born to Phillip W. Massey and Rosa Bell Gordon Massey in Grand Junction, Colorado. She grew up on the Massey Ranch, near the town of Whitewater and in Unaweep Canyon. She attended Grand Junction High School and then Colorado College, where she was part of the Independent Women group on campus. She married Clinton Lee Kitson on Orchard Mesa on January 1, 1950. Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer
A poet who lives in San Miguel County. She is the former Western Slope poet laureate. Her books include: Insatiable, If You Listen, and The Miracle Already Happening.
Rosina "Rose" (Paola) Chiaro
She was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States as the mail order bride of Giussepe S. “Joseph” Chiaro. She arrived in New York on the Princess Irene on June 27, 1913, and was married to Joseph in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 30, 1913. Together they lived on a truck farm in river bottom land along River Road. They had nine children. After his death, her children worked on the farm and elsewhere to support the family.
