In a retrospective video covering her period as Artist in Residence at 970West Studio in Mesa County Libraries, Paula Marchionda talks about her work with fused glass, how her love of glass is informed by her love of science, and how her background as a physician intersects with her artistry. She speaks about how Navajo art motifs appear in her art as a result of working on the Navajo Nation and growing up around Navajo rugs and art. She discusses her use of old windows and recycled glass that she reuses in her art, how it differs from using art glass for projects, and her enjoyment in guiding students in the breaking, molding, and fusing of recycled glass during her Artist in Residence classes. She addresses the need for time and patience in glass art, and how her residency at 970West Studio gave her this time.
