Avon Taylor Jr. talks about his father Avon Taylor Sr. and his career as the principal of the Mt. Lincoln School and Palisade High School. He recalls his mother Rena Taylor’s career as an elementary school teacher in Delta and Palisade. He speaks about his grandfather, the Reverend James Gramps, and about the Palisade Presbyterian Church, where he preached. He discusses the people and businesses of Palisade, Colorado. He reminisces about his schooling in Palisade. He talks about his father’s other career as a fruit grower. He speaks about his mom’s lengthy career as a legislator in the Colorado State House and Senate, and about how his father took over the household chores during her absence. The interview was conducted by the Mesa County Oral History Project, a collaboration of Mesa County Libraries and the Museums of Western Colorado.
