Old Colorado Hall was destroyed by fire in March 1939 set by a 15-year old who confessed to this and other fires around Gunnison. The wooden structure produced intense heat that could be felt as far away as Crawford Hall. The remaining structure was subsequently torn down.
[Old Colorado Hall destroyed by fire in 1939. Originally built in 1920 to provide the first on-campus women's housing and dining facilities, the structure was labeled a fire trap by the state budget commissioner. President Quigley, who not only channeled money from the unfinished central portion of Taylor Hall, but was said to have personally given $1000 of his own money toward completion of the building, defended it from attacks in the legislature. By the time of the fire it had been moved from its original site and abandoned.] -- M. Hatcher notes
