Roles (non-creator) for XML Forms

acknowledgement

This role adds the person or organization to the acknowledgement sidebar but not to the regular metadata record in Pika

advisor

Used for academic advisors or others serving in an advisory role.

also known as

Should be used for relationships between ORGANIZATIONS when an organization has a new name, merges with another organizations, or otherwise reinvents itself with a new identity.

attendee

Used to relate people to events.

child

Can be used for people or organizations. In the case of organizations, this would be a sub-organization of the larger. 10th Mountain Division is a child of the US Army.

committee chair

For any committee chair (including theses and dissertations)

committee member

For any committee member (including theses and dissertations)

correspondence recipient

A person a letter or postcard is addressed to.

degree grantor
donor

Someone who donated the physical or digital object or collection.

educational institution
employee

A person who works for the organization entity being described.

funder

Someone who contributed financially to the creation of the object. This is different from "donor" who donated the object or collection.

interviewee

Someone who was the subject of the interview. To add an "interviewer" use the Creator field.

member

This is a relatively generic term that can be used for membership in organizations, clubs, or other institutions.

owner

Describes a person that owns the physical or digital object. Could also be used for entities such as organizations (example: the owner of the organization the Denver Broncos).

parade marshal

A parade marshal for an event.

parent

Can be used for events or organizations. For people, use the fields under Family Members. In the case of organizations, this would be an umbrella organization of the smaller. The US Army is a parent of the 10th Mountain Division. For events, WWII is a parent event of Pearl Harbor.

participant
partner

A generic relationship for someone related to an object or entity.

president
publisher

The person or organization responsible for publishing the physical or digital object.

rodeo royalty

This is intended for rodeo royalty only, not members of a royal family (such as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom).

sponsor

For a person or organization that sponsored an entity such as an event or a person.

student
transcriber

The person responsible for transcribing the document, recording, or video.
