Jacob Jones was mayor of Englewood from 1903-1906.
Englewood was incorporated on May 13, 1903. It's original city limits were Breene (now Quincy), Yale, the railroad and Clarkson.
In a hotly contested election, Jacob C. Jones, pledging "good government" narrowly defeated Thomas J. Skerritt and became the new city's first Mayor. The chief election issue was whether or not saloons and gambling should be allowed. Since there was no newpaper until 1906, the City Council published ordinances by posting them in thre locations: Broadway and Platte (Dartmouth; Broadway and Sheridan (Hampden) and Broadway and Breene (Quincy).
