Four unidentified residents of Ruedi stand for a picture. Taken around 1910. John Ruedi settled on the land after snowshoeing up from Basalt in 1885. Ruedi would later sell his ranch in 1906. Other settlers followed including Bill Smith. Once located in the Fryingpan River Valley, the land where Ruedi was located was eventually flooded as part of the Fry-Ark Project. Today Ruedi lies submerged beneath the Ruedi Reservoir and Dam, constructed between 1964 and 1968.
