- Studio portrait of Ellis Bernard Bearden in Army Uniform. He served with the 3rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion during World War II, fighting for 21 months in Germany and France. "He told friends about being caught in Belgium, in the Battle of the Bulge, just days before Christmas. The Allied troops were surrounded by Germans, and the cloudy weather prevented planes from providing air support for days.
