Part of: Oral History with William & Anna Barrowman (1 objects)
Description
William Barrowman’s parents arrived in Colorado around 1880. He was raised in a mining family, his father working at many different mines. While his father didn’t work at the Columbine Mine, Anna Barrowman worked at a store where the miners from the Columbine Mine would come to trade. William’s family lived in a three-room house which his father eventually built on to. He recalls some of the house's history, including a cellar used to preserve cold and fresh goods. William witnessed many technological advances such as electricity, telephones, and furnaces. He and his father used to work in a blacksmith shop. He recalls severe winters, storms so bad that roads were shut down for weeks.
