Challenge Dairy (United States)
Around 1930, local dairymen in Mesa County, Colorado decided to affiliate with the Challenge Creamery Association of California. Several Challenge-affiliated creameries then opened on the Western Slope, with one in Grand Junction, one in Plateau Valley, Montrose, Eckert, Hotchkiss, and Cortez. C.H. Hinman promoted the Challenge group in Grand Junction, and was aided by Levi Morse.

Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad
Formed in 1869 from several small Virginia railroads, this railroad line reached the Ohio River by 1873 and went on towards the Midwest reaching as far as Chicago, Illinois.
