Amore "Amos" Rasso
-
He immigrated to Grand Junction, Colorado from southern Italy. He ran a little grocery store and after Prohibition was repealed, ran a liquor store. According to Frank Simonetti Sr. and Angela (Audino) Simonetti, Rasso was a community leader who would often help Italian-Americans who found themselves in difficult circumstances. He would finance people for certain ventures, and was, according to Frank Simonetti Jr., the unofficial “godfather” of the area. He even went so far as to give people legal advice or to represent them in court. Though he was not a lawyer, his advice and influence was highly valued. He was married to Adalina “Anna” Rasso, a fellow Italian immigrant who had come from Southern Italy. They lived on 2nd Street.
