Richard Meserve
An early Mesa County architect, engineer, and possibly surveyor. He lived for a time in Whitewater with his wife Lola "Dora" Eudora (Price) Meserve.
Richard Michael "Mike" Taylor
He was born to Norris J. Taylor and Joyce Luise (Spencer) Taylor in Grand Junction, Colorado at St. Mary’s Hospital. He attended Broadway Elementary, Orchard Mesa Junior High School, and Grand Junction High School. He obtained his GED. He joined the Marines on January 4, 1966, at the age of seventeen, and served until March 13, 1969, achieving the rank of Corporal. He was part of the Delta Company, First Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment. During his service time, he was stationed in San Diego and Pendleton for training, and in Vietnam for combat as a rifleman (late summer of 1966-February 1967). He was wounded in battle and transported to Fitzsimons Hospital in Denver for two years of treatment. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnamese Service Medal, and a Vietnamese Campaign Medal with Palm Device. He married Joyce Spencer on July 24, 1968 in Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver. They had two sons. Richard N. Gray
He was from Salem, Oregon, where he served as the assistant city manager. He was the city manager of Grand Junction, Colorado from January 1967 to October 1972. He resigned to become city manager of Norman, Oklahoma. Later, he moved to Farmington, New Mexico.
