Roger Dayton Williams

He was born in Washburn, Wisconsin to Halley Williams and Eleanore Edwards (Rocheforte) Williams. The family moved to the Denver, Colorado area soon after he was born. The 1950 US Census shows the family living in Denver, with Halley Williams working as a male hospital nurse.
Roger attended Douglas County Junior High School and Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, graduating in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Marines on September 26, 1967, following in the footsteps of his older brother, whom he idolized. He attended basic training at Camp Pendleton in California and Artillery Ordinance in Quantico, Virginia. He served from 1967 until 1971, including a four month tour of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War (July 1969 to December 1969). During his tour, he served as a gun mechanic in a machinist unit, District Support Unit I, at Fire Base in An Hoa, Quang Tri Province. He reinlisted in 1974 and served until 1976. He achieved the rank of Sergeant E5 and received a meritorious unit citation.
After his service, he worked as a Federal Correctional Officer, as a security guard, and as a horseshoer on a ranch near Grand Junction, Colorado. He used the GI Bill to attend agricultural courses.
He married Naomi Irene Zyla of Colorado on July 13, 1980. They had two children, but soon divorced. He married Karen Sue Clay on May 11, 1985. She preceded him in death. He died at the age of 73 or 74 and is buried in Grand Junction’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Roger was a realtor and insurance agent and served as a member of the Education Committee of the Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce which helped developed Colorado Mountain College.

Roger Henry "Rog" Long
-
He was born to Edward Long and Margaret J. Long in Kansas, were the family farmed. He married Lora Shigley in Salem Township on December 23, 1904. The family came to Loma, Colorado in 1917, where they homesteaded.
With his brother Quince, he moved the Valley View School north over the Colorado River when it was frozen in the early 1920’s, so that it would be closer to the children that attended the school, including his own kids.
He was a farmer. The 1950 Census indicates that they lived south of the intersection of Highway 50 and state highway 139. He is buried in Grand Junction’s Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Roger Knapp was a Presbyterian minister in the 1980's and lived in Telluride/Placerville, Colorado from January 1978 until June 1998. Roger Neville Williams

Author, a resident of Telluride, wrote many publications, including New Times and the Village Voice.
In December 1983, the Sheridan Opera House was bought by and J. W. Lloyd and Roger N. Williams,
who had been leasing the building for about nine months. President of the Picture Show Corporation, Williams
stated his intent to promote conferences, concerts and live stage events, with less emphasis on movies.
