Tara Flanagan
Tara Flanagan was born in 1958 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Fritzi Jane Lyons and Clair Mills Flanagan. She enjoyed summers at Green Lake, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School in Fond du Lac. Flanagan earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Flanagan studied humorous writing at The New School, a pioneering New York City higher education institution that addresses emerging social sciences, the creative arts, and new areas of learning. Flanagan watched “the digital era come alive” while she worked as a journalist for The Vail Trail between 1989 and 1999. Flanagan notes that she and her coworkers “rode the crest of the Big Western Weeklies” and that it was a monumental time to be there. Currently, she works as a freelance journalist and writes for the RealVail, Vail Business Journal, the Mountain Gazette, and other publications. Besides writing, Flanagan also enjoys painting, beekeeping, horses, equine massage therapy, and reading tarot cards. Tara Flanagan performs oral history interviews for the Vail Public Library alongside Tony Mauro, the “Voice of Vail.” She is married to Greg Wright; their son is Schuyler Wright. Currently, Flanagan and family live near Salida, Colorado.
