W.C. Calhoun
Calhoun was a Denver, Colorado-based publisher in the early 20th century.
W.D. Toyne
Came from Ohio. He was the city manager of Grand Junction from 1950-1956. He had significant previous experience as city manager in other towns. According to local historian and city councilman Karl Johnson, he was let go by the council as a result of his inability to satisfy Walter Walker, the managing editor of the Daily Sentinel.
W.L. "Windy" Martin
He was born and raised in Mangum, Oklahoma. He was a drummer, stage manager, and paymaster for Fred G. Brunk's Comedians tent show in 1931 and 1932. After that, he promoted dance bands around the Southwest until 1937. Then he took a job working for the railroad. He retired as a salesman for Brothers Company in Grand Junction.
W.L. Cummings
Owner of the W.L. Cummings Chemical Co. with claims in Bull Canyon, Gypsum Valley, and Hamm Canyon. He also owned a boarding house in Bull Canyon, near Bedrock, Colorado, in the 1910s.
W.L. Jones
Early resident of Crested Butte, Colorado. Died in the Jokerville Mine Explosion on January 24, 1884.
W.O. Hoar
He owned a farm in the Third Fruitridge area of Mesa County, Colorado. He had a daughter named Bonnie Belle, described by childhood neighbor Albert Rood as a real outdoor girl who taught him how to milk a cow. The Hoar family was from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
