Clancy Waneka worked as a teacher, dairy farmer, and with the Department of Agriculture (1932-1952) in Lafayette, Colorado. He earned a degree in biology from Colorado State University in 1933.
An early rancher in the De Beque area. He was also a miner in Leadville and a teamster. He was known for using a bullwhip on his horses, and once accidentally whipped Charles Burg when he was breaking a horse that belonged to Conwell. Conn Creek near De Beque is named for him.
Early 20th century resident of Mesa County's Hunter District, east of Fruita, near 21 and J Roads. He and his wife Nancy (Renwick) Stanton grew apples.
