Larry Agneberg
Larry Agneberg was born 12 April 1951 in Cando, North Dakota. Located 40 miles from the Canadian border, Cando is a rural farming community. His father, Paul Agneberg, was an attorney and his mother, Ruthella Agneberg, juggled being her responsibilities as housewife and mother with being a legal secretary for her husband. In 1973, Agneberg graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BSBA in Marketing. After college, Agneberg joined the service organization AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and moved to Shiprock, New Mexico. Shiprock is an important community and cultural center within the Navajo Nation Dinétah. Agneberg worked as a VISTA business advisor to Navajo-owned businesses for 15 months. In October 1974, Agneberg relocated to Vail. He was initially employed in a restaurant, but soon also operated a wholesale jewelry business. In 1977, Agneberg opened Vail Natural Foods and Mercantile in West Vail; he sold the business in 1981. Agneberg subsequently worked seasonally as a Nordic ski instructor and white-water rafting guide. In October 1983, Agneberg entered the real estate profession and continues to work as a Broker. He is past president of Vail Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the Year by his colleagues. In 1985, Larry Agneberg joined the Vail Rotary Club. He is a past president of that service organization and functioned several years as the Vail Rotary Youth Exchange Officer. Agneberg has two sons, Paul and Ian. In 2001, Agneberg married pharmacist and long-time local, Sandi Ernest Robertson. She has lived in the Vail Valley since 1974. The Agnebergs enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, golf and summers in Vail.
