- He was born in Tennessee and came to Mesa County, Colorado from Huerfano, Colorado with his wife Catherine in 1887. They located near Fruita, Colorado and Cisco, Utah, where they owned cattle ranching operations.

- Early Twentieth century dairy farmer who owned land near 15th Street and Elm Avenue in Grand Junction. He also worked for a time at the Rettig Packing Company, for the Curry Canning Company as a warehouse foreman, and for the Grand Junction Seed Company. After working as warehouse foreman for the Grand Junction Seed Company, he took over its catalog and printed 40,000 copies, which were distributed nationally. Later he started his own seed company, the Mountain View Seed Company.
