Olive Myrtle (Allison) Sallady

She was born in Elbert, Colorado to Millard Moses Allison and Nettie Minerva (Jones) Allison. She grew up in North Carolina and in Colorado Springs. She became a country school teacher who taught at the Peach Valley School between Silt and New Castle, Colorado. In the Country School Legacy on the Western Slope of Colorado project directed by Dr. Andrew Gulliford, Olive describes discipline issues with her students. Dead mice, snakes, and frogs were often left in her desk drawers the first few weeks she taught. The children were also prone to fighting during recess. She married Lloyd Salladay, a rancher.

He served as the governor of Colorado from 1919 to 1923. During the early Twentieth century, he also owned a fruit orchard near Fruita, Colorado, called the Western Slope Ranch.
