: Rebecca Woods; Rebecca Woods was the fourteenth Mesa County Libraries Artist in Residence at 970West Studio. She served as the Artist in Residence from February 1 to May 3, 2021. Woods has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Colorado Mesa University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Installation and Performance Art from Newcastle University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She has shown work in the United States, Canada, England, and Italy. She lives and teaches in the Grand Valley and has a wonderful, lazy dog and a fluffy, hyperactive cat. Rebecca is a multimedia artist who believes play and creation are intertwined, that mythology and folklore have an important place in our lives, and that we as human beings use symbols and narratives to give our lives meaning and structure. She is a tinkerer, an inventor, and a bit of a mad scientist. She makes toys, books, fascinating objects, posters and paintings, devices that project light, and experiential art installations. A lot of her work has to do with the darker things in life such as death, desire, and impermanence because it’s only by facing the dark that we learn to not be afraid of it.

: Reford Theobold; He is the former mayor of Grand Junction. The Theobold family has lived on the Western Slope for over four generations, with Joseph and Ella Theobold first arriving in Delta County. His parents, Clyde and Alma Theobold, purchased the Loma General Store on August 1, 1970 and moved to Fruitvale in order to run it. In 1975, Reford took over the store at the age of twenty. He began a career in broadcasting when a senior in high school in 1972, working for KEXO AM. He later worked for KSTR AM and KQIL FM, where he was as a substitute for Steve Janaka. He became the KREX TV sports anchor in April 1979. He quit broadcasting in August 1980, because it took too much time away from the store. He wrote a column for the Daily Sentinel called “Dial log” in the early 1980’s. He later became the mayor of Grand Junction.
