Vail Rotary Club - History Nugget with Tony Mauro
Vail Rotary Club, formally chartered as Rotary Club of Vail - Eagle Valley, was established on 9 June 1970. It was the first international service club organized in the community. (The first local community service event was the annual Rummage Sale, which stimulated the inception of the Eagle Valley Community Fund.) Jan Strauch, who joined Vail Rotary in 1971, discusses the early days of Vail Rotary Club with Tony Mauro, the "Voice of Vail."

In 2020, Vail Rotary Club celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to Eagle County, Colorado and the world community. Tony Mauro, the "Voice of Vail," interviewed several early and otherwise instrumental members of Vail Rotary Club including: Larry Agneberg, Chris Aubel, Gary Gilman, Reggie O'Brian, Dr. Kent Petrie, Sue Rychel, Jerry Sibley, Jan Strauch, Penny Wilson, and Bill Wilto. Others interviewed in this Vail Rotary Club oral history included: Maggie Gilman, who participated in the International Student Exchange Program to Hungary; Erin Ivie, the Executive Director of SpeakUp ReachOut; Greg Osteen, the Executive Director of Vail Valley Cares - The Thrifty Shop; Eric Schmelling, the Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Rotary Foundation in Chicago; and Cliff Thompson - local journalist and public relations specialist.
Vail Roundabout - History Nugget with Rob LeVine and Tony Mauro
Rob LeVine served on the Vail Town Council from 1989 to 1993. During his tenure, Vail town engineer, Greg Hall, and transportation consultant, Arnie Ullevig, proposed a creative solution to traffic backups at Vail's former four-way stop off I-70. LeVine discussed the controversy and resolution of Vail's initial roundabout. It has been described as the first modern roundabout in North America., The Vail Roundabout image is from an online 15 June 2022 KUSA news report (Denver station).
