This 1970s Vail Symposium image is inscribed: "For Terry, A great friend, Stewart Udall." The image appears in The Second Vail Symposium proceedings. The Second Vail Symposium was held in Vail, Colorado on 4-5 August 1972.
Former Secretary of the Interior, Stewart L. Udall, gave the keynote address. The address examined the 1972 Vail Symposium theme and was entitled "Agenda for Tomorrow: A New Growth Ethic.", This 1970s Vail Symposium photograph is no. 9 of 13.

This document was written by Vail's first Town Manager and Vail Symposium founder, Terry Minger. It addresses the values behind the founding of the Vail Symposium and its poster series created by Tom Benton. Benton was an American artist and activist who lived in Aspen.
The iconic poster series artwork ran from 1971 to 1996.
Minger and Vail's second mayor, John Dobson, founded the Vail Symposium in 1971. Designed as a visionary, yet pragmatic, think tank, the Vail Symposium addressed issues of a growing young town in the Rocky Mountain West.
