Featured near the front of in the Vail Public Library galleria is a bronze plaque commemorating the library's dedication on 4 July 1983. Snowdon and Hopkins Architects was named the best design in a Vail Town Council timed architectural contest. The design received an Award of Excellence given jointly by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and American Library Association (ALA)., The bronze plaque is located on the west wall in the galleria near the Vail Public Library building entrance.
