Ed Grange described his family roots from Aoste Valley in northern Italy and their migration to America circa 1900. His father initially worked in the Leadville mining industry but ultimately relocated to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1916. Grange grew up without electricity on a ranch stradled Eagle and Pitkin Counties near Basalt and remained in his family nearly 100 years.
Besides discussing his career with Holy Cross Electric, Grange expounds upon his role in the electrification of the Eagle River Valley, in addition to bringing power to the sheep ranches in the Upper Gore Creek Valley. Grange examines how Holy Cross Electric Cooperative took a chance on Pete Seibert and their decision to create the power infrastructure to the Vail Ski Area.
Grange was interviewed by Walter Gallacher and his Western Colorado Immigrant Stories, a Colorado Public Radio program aired from KDNK in Carbondale, Colorado., Ed Grange images are from the February 2013 issue of Colorado Country Life and Walter Gallacher's Western Colorado Immigrant Stories website.
