Founded by George Washington Knox, Sr. on 15 October 1965, The Vail Trail was Vail’s first newspaper. The Vail Trail was a Knox family-owned newspaper that ran from 1965 to 2008. Tony Mauro and Tara Flanagan interviewed Knox family members, as well as fifteen former employee and community members for this remarkable oral history compilation. The oral history narrators include: Allen Knox, Carolyn Knox Keep, Sharon Brown, Kathy Heicher, Mark Huffman, James Johnson, John Horan-Kates, Scott Kersgaard, Terry Minger, Joanne Morgan, Heather Dorf Rawlings, Mike Rawlings, Terri Thomas, Doug Thompson and David O. Williams.
