Renowned jockey and Kentucky Derby winner, Pat Day, grew up on Lake Creek near Edwards, Colorado. His father, Mickey Day, taught him the fundamentals of riding and horsemanship at a young age. In this excerpt, Pat Day discusses a "very pivotal moment" during the first horse ride of his life. His mount was a spunky Welsh pony named Blackie.
