Mikaela Shiffrin - Record Breaking Day 19 March 2023
Description
On 19 March 2023, Mikaela Shiffrin, an Edwards, Colorado native, celebrated FIS Alpine Ski World Cup wins in slalom, giant slalom and the overall title. The events took place on the final day of the 2022/2023 season and were held in Soldeu, a Pyrenean ski village located in the principality of Andorra.
These World Cup wins hallmarked Shiffrin's 88th World Cup win and a world record regardless of gender. Sweden's skiing icon, the great Ingemar Stenmark, formerly held this honor with 86 World Cup wins. At this same World Cup event, Shiffrin earned her 21st giant slalom win, which chronicled a women's world record formerly held by Vreni Schneider, and Shiffrin's 138th World Cup podium, which marked a women's world record formerly held by USA teammate Lindsay Vonn.
