College graduation studio photograph of John Wallace Mackey, University of Nebraska, circa 1915. A scholarship in his name was established in 2000, the J. W. Mackey Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Gore Range Natural Science School's summer or after-school program. [The school's name has changed to Walking Mountains.]
"Mr. Mackey taught school for many years in Red Cliff, being superintendent of the former Red cliff Union High. He served in various official capacities on the Red Cliff Town Board and fire department, being instrumental in the formation of that department. Mr. Mackey worked endlessly to improve living and recreational conditions in Red Cliff, and was partially responsible for the formation of the water and sanitation district for that town." -- Eagle Valley Enterprise, December 2, 1971

c.1904: Front/side view of the J. P. Oleson Store, Gypsum, Colorado. The two story building has a side stairway going up to the second story, with several curtained windows and a door at that level. The front of the building has a square, fake facade with two windows upstairs, two larger windows and a doorway downstairs. Signage in the downstairs windows reads: "J. P. Oleson Dry Goods, Hats & Shoes," and "J. P. Oleson Groceries." There are chickens on the sidewalk in front of the store.
